The Fondation Cartier of contemporary art in Paris is honoring Olga de Amaral with an exhibition designed by Lina Ghotmeh , running from October 12 , 2024 , to March 16 , 2025 . This is the first major retrospective in Europe of the renowned Colombian artist , showcasing 80 works created since the 1960s . Celebrated for her monumental pieces and gold leaf creations , Olga de Amaral has revolutionized textile art , or Fiber Art , which had long been associated with traditional artisanal tapestries . She draws inspiration from the Bauhaus movement of the 1920s , which acknowledged that an artwork could be composed of textiles . Her work , imbued with the traditions of her native Colombia , is revolutionary in its use of color , often geometric forms , monumental scale and the materials employed , such as linen , cotton , wool , silk , palladium to reflect light and even horsehair . Horsehair appears in many of her creations combined with dyed wools , including Gran Muro ( 330 x 445 cm ) and Muro en Rojos ( 700 x 830 cm ). Spectacular .
