LA TESTE RACE- COURSE, BEATING HEART OF ARABIAN THOROUGHBREDS
The La Teste-de-Buch racecourse and Purebred Arabians are deeply connected. Since 2017, the headquarters of AFAC( the French Association of Purebred Arabians) has been located at the heart of the racecourse’ s facilities. Three trainers specialized in the discipline are based on this site, which was created in 1902 by Jacques Meller: Madame Jean-François Bernard, Gaël Lemer and Olivier Trigodet. Over one hundred purebred arabians are trained on site in a lush, green setting. La Teste racecourse is one of the 15 racecourses in France to host Purebred Arabian races. During eleven race meetings held at La Teste, a total of twenty-three races— including eleven Group races— are dedicated to Purebred Arabians. This represents 24 % of the national Arabian racing program, as well as 31 % of all Group races. Numerous sponsors are involved in these events: ACA, Al Nujaifi Racing, the South-West Owners’ Association, QREC, Wathba Stallions, and Wathba Stud Farm. La Teste racecourse also hosted a major first with the Breeze-Up dedicated to Purebred Arabians, organized by Osarus in 2023. This sales company has been a pioneer in the field. There is a real energy around Purebred Arabians at the racecourse, driven in part by Axelle Nègre de Watrigant, President of AFAC and Vice-President of the racecourse.
The next major event will take place on July 12: the Journée du Cheval Arabe by Wathba Stud Farm.
