MAGIC MILLIONS AD- ELAIDE YEARLING SALE – 17 / 18 MARCH With a reduced amount of sold lots compared to 2024, the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale saw a decrease on all key statistics in 2025. The median price reduced from $ 40,000 to $ 32,500, with the average dropping only marginally from $ 49,545 to $ 48,971. Despite the disappointing numbers, leading Australian sires continued to dominate – with a Written Tycoon filly fetching $ 260,000 in the first session and a sales-topping $ 350,000 Zoustar filly on the second day. The sale continued to attract international interest and it is anticipated that the Written Tycoon filly could head abroad, after being purchased online by China’ s Wei Jiaoqi. Consigned from Yulong Investments, the filly boasted Northern and Southern Hemisphere influence as the daughter of an un-raced Dubawi mare.“ Mr Zhang has seen how healthy and vital the Australian breeding and sales market is here and wants to be active in all parts of that and we are getting great results in doing that,” said Yulong’ s Harry King. Although the sales topping Zoustar filly fell short of last year’ s top price of $ 400,000, she stood out as a quality individual consigned by Baramul Stud. With maternal Stakes form in both Australia and New Zealand, it was little surprise to see the filly sell to Australian interest with the combination of Blueblood Thoroughbreds and leading trainer Ciaron Maher signing the docket for $ 350,000.“ Usually we come down here to Adelaide to look for some value and get some cheapies,” said Blueblood Thoroughbreds’ David Mourad.“ But on this occasion it was quite the opposite. We had to bid strong on her. We didn’ t want to leave the sale without her and we’ re very excited to be able to purchase her.”
FASIG-TIPTON MARCH DIGITAL SALE – 13- 18 MARCH Implemented for the March Digital Sale, Fasig-Tipton have announced a new minimum( upset) bid for all Thoroughbred sales- $ 2,500. It is 250 % higher than the previous minimum bid of $ 1,000, in place since 2000, in accordance with the increasing value of the dollar.“ The $ 1,000 upset price was instituted 25 years ago, and the time has come for it to be raised in support of our industry’ s long-term commitment to Thoroughbred welfare,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning.“ The value of the dollar has certainly increased over time, and by raising our upset price we are better ensuring responsible horse ownership for years to come.”
MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH YEARLING SALE – 24-25 MARCH Delayed for two weeks due to weather conditions, the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale saw an increased average from 2024($ 33,570) to $ 34,635, despite thirty-two fewer lots sold. Consigned by agent KBL Thoroughbreds, a Pinatubo colt topped the sale at $ 290,000 – a representative from the first Southern Hemisphere crop of Darley’ s young stallion, who was crowned Champion European juvenile in 2019. Out of an I Am Invincible mare, the colt was bred by Queensland-based Peachester Lodge and the sale represented the quality of home-grown bloodstock on the Gold Coast.“ It’ s always good to get a sale topper here at Magic Millions – in your home state,” said KBL’ s Brad Lowe.“ And to get a result like that for someone that has supported us for many years.”
