ENGLISH TEXTS bought by Anthony Stroud( on behalf of Godolphin) for 1.4 million. The opening day numbers appeared minor as the second session closed, with a Havana Grey colt sold to Alex Elliott achieving a new record-high of 1.7 million guineas. Sold by proven consigner Malcom Bastard, the striking grey is out of Showcasing mare Show Stealer, a nine-time winner on the track. With records falling, Tattersalls were able to report a highly successful overall sale, with an increased turnover of 29 % from 2024. The average and median price were up 25 % and 15 % respectively, cementing the Craven Breeze-Up Sale’ s position as a rising force in the European sales calendar.
GOFFS DONCAS- TER BREEZE-UP SALE – 23 / 24 APRIL Not to be eclipsed by the Tattersalls Craven Breeze- Up Sale, the Goffs Doncaster Breeze-Up Sale surpassed all expectations by selling the first one-million pound horse in the auction-house’ s history. The Doncaster sales ring was inaugurated in 1983 and whilst it has always produced strong results, the one million pound mark had remained elusive. Mehmas was responsible for the top-three lots in the sale, with the trio amassing an incredible 2.37 million euros. Bought by Godolphin, the million pound colt was an impressive breezer with a Black Type page to match – out of the Listed-placed mare Rapid Reaction, who hails from the same maternal family as outstanding sire and Champion Two- Year-Old Wootton Bassett. It was not only top-lot which broke records for the auction house. The sale logged an increased average( 35 %) and improved median( 4 %) – both record-breaking statistics for the Goffs Doncaster Breeze-Up Sale. The results reflected wider positive trends for breeze-up sales – an upward trajectory that is likely to be reflected across Europe.

DUBAI WORLD CUP, 2025 EDITION
The 2025 edition of the Dubai World Cup was once again a spectacular affair, and the French representatives did not fail to inspire: Calandagan, runner-up in the Dubai Sheema Classic( Gr. 1), King Gold, also second, in the Godolphin Mile( Gr. 2), and Double Major, Wertheimer & Frère’ s representative, who took second in the Dubai Gold Cup, another Group 2 event of the evening.
Long considered the richest race on the planet, the Dubai World Cup( Gr. 1) offers a purse of $ 12 million and currently ranks third worldwide. The top spot belongs to the Saudi Cup( Gr. 1), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, since its creation in 2020. Slotted between the Pegasus World Cup( January) and the Dubai World Cup( late March), it boasts a $ 20 million prize. The second place on the podium goes to The Everest, the world’ s richest turf race($ 12.4 million), held at the Sydney racecourse in Australia.
Historically the first on the list, the Dubai World Cup was launched in 1996 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates. Four years after the construction of the original Nad Al Sheba racecourse, his ambition through this race and its associated carnival was to make Dubai one of the world’ s leading equestrian capitals. Mission accomplished— this event now draws some of the top
