Osarus and Auctav: The Newcomers In 2015, Osarus diversified by launching Osarus Trot. The first selected yearling sale was held in August of that year at Argentan racecourse, a carefully chosen date, as it takes place just days before ARQANA Trot’ s traditional selected yearling sale in Deauville. Building on this initial experience, Osarus Trot introduced in 2017 the“ Rouges Terres” sale, a prestigious auction held at the renowned stud farm of the same name, with the Dubois-Baudron family as sole consignor. At the initiative of this sale, Louis Baudron did not stop there. In 2021, he launched the agency Auctav alongside Arnaud Angéliaume, formerly of Osarus. Positioned primarily on the online market, Auctav aims to offer greater flexibility by simplifying the logistics associated with physical sales. While Thoroughbreds represent its main market by number of sales, Auctav has been entrusted with organizing the Rouges Terres sale. This shift also brought a change of venue: the sale moved a few kilometers away to the Domaine de Bois Roussel, one of the emblematic centers of French breeding, created by the Roederer family and later owned by the Wildenstein family. If Osarus“ lost” the Rouges Terres sale, it has, since 2021, organized a mixed sale at Laval racecourse in autumn. This sale has already produced numerous quality winners, both in the provinces and in the Paris region, at more moderate price levels than those required to secure a top competitor at ARQANA. It is also in this spirit that Osarus and Auctav announced, in January, that they would join forces( see related article).

AUCTIONS IN JUMPING WORLD
In recent years, sport horse auctions have established themselves as a key player on the international equestrian scene. Since the creation of Ventes Fences in 1989 by Arnaud Evain, Bruno Souloumiac, Marcel Rozier, Yves Lemaire, Éric Nègre and Bernard Le Courtois, the sector has continued to structure and professionalize, keeping pace with the evolution of the sport and the market’ s new expectations.
Today, auctions take place throughout the year and come in many different formats. From Fences to Nash, including Balsan Enchères, Equinia, Flanders Foal & Embryo Auction, Extra Horses, Ekestrian, Zangersheide Auction, Schockemöhle Online Auction, Grand Prix Sales, Normandie Queens Auction by Cheval Normandie, SLF Horse Auction, Horse Auction Belgium, Optimus
Auction and Equbreeding. auction, the offering is broad and varied. Some events bring horses and buyers together at the same venue over several days, while others rely on fully digital formats, organized over just a few hours or a few days. Long essentially reserved for foals, broodmares and young horses aged two and three, auctions have gradually expanded their catalogues. The increase in embryo production from proven stallions and top-level maternal lines has naturally led to the development of embryo sales. At the same time, growing demand for sport horses already performing in competition has prompted organizers to develop auctions specifically dedicated to performers, thus responding to new market dynamics. Behind every auction, the selection of horses presented follows a precise logic, closely linked to the role and involvement of the organizer. In a reduction sale, the organizer simply provides a framework and logistical expertise, without intervening in the composition of the catalogue. Conversely, when the sale is designed and driven by the organizer, the horses offered come from a rigorous selection carried out by the organizing team, ensuring clearly defined consistency and quality.
