ENGLISH TEXTS of the family to the Left Bank of Paris. Horses also accompanied him during World War II. At the beginning of the conflict, he took refuge with his grandfather, the great Jacques Guerlain, in the Orne region, at the Haras de Montaigu. This stud farm, founded in 1903 by Gabriel Guerlain, claimed victory in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris as early as 1912 with Hopper. Wings of Eagles, half a century after Sea Bird Breeding has long been a family tradition among the Guerlains. Over time and through inheritance, this stud farm near the Haras du Pin has passed through the family: Jacques from 1933 to 1942; Claude, one of his sons, from 1942 to 1984; and then his daughter Aliette Forien since then. The Guerlain saga also plays out on the racetracks. Winner of the Prix de Diane and runner-up in the Prix de l’ Arc de Triomphe under the silks of Baron de Redé in 1972, Rescousse remains one of the dynasty’ s proudest achievements. But the Haras de Montaigu has grown significantly under the leadership of Aliette Forien. After the grey Kendor came the great Martaline, followed today by the sought-after No Risk at All, now among the best jumping stallions. Naturally, Wings of Eagles holds a special place. His extraordinary and unex- pected rush( at 40 / 1 odds) to win the 2017 Epsom Derby remains a stunning achievement. The grandson of Rotina is still the last English Derby winner born and bred in France since the legendary Sea Bird in 1965. Since then, the list of champions bred or sold by the stud keeps growing: Irésine, Sauterne, Prince Gibraltar, Literato … This year, six stallions are being offered by the Haras de Montaigu, including newcomers Cloth of Stars( by Sea the Stars) and Nietzsche Has( by Zarak). Supported by her daughter Sybille Gibson and her grandson Erwan de Chambord, Aliette and her husband Gilles Forien continue a long family tradition after significantly boosting the commercial offer. The Haras de Montaigu— renowned for both flat and jump racing— now spans over 200 hectares. The other jewel of the Guerlain family, for six generations and counting.

In a world where ostentation is the norm, the scene makes a splash and earns him the LVMH Prize, a major turning point in his career.“ I want to stay free and true to who I am,” says the designer after this extraordinary appearance at La Villette.
