A FASCINATION WITH THE HORS
Portraits, varied and personal, of men and women who share their stories as racehorse owners. Finding the right words to express such a passion is no easy task, often bringing with it the feeling of revealing something from one’ s inner sanctuary. Anne Konitz-Hoyeau met with a dozen of them and tells their stories, offering a fresh and offbeat spotlight on today’ s world of ownership.
She didn’ t come from the world of horse racing, but she immersed herself in it many years ago, discovering the passion and the energy that radiates from it. Anne Konitz-Hoyeau was already familiar with horses as a show jumping rider, but it was after meeting Éric Hoyeau that she was introduced to the thoroughbred and the universe surrounding it- a world she describes as vast, thrilling, and incredibly rich, which she sought to shed light on and share. For a long time, she remained an observer, trying to grasp the workings of this complex domain, and the urge to share what she had come to understand soon took hold.“ I found that it’ s not a world that’ s easy to enter, with so many stories, traditions, and a language entirely its own. And I felt the need to share it, because it’ s such a rich world, it deserves to be understood and accessible to all,” says the author. The profiles are diverse, and one by one, they open up about their passion in ways they never have before:“ I wanted to take the conversation further, so they could truly open up and express what this passion means, share more than the usual words they might offer in a standard interview.” What they all share is a deep dedication which, despite hardships or lean years, keeps them going, driven by a rare, deep-rooted passion that brings unforgettable moments and intense emotion.
Following Breeders, Women and Men of the Horse World, published in 2019, Anne Konitz-Hoyeau now presents her second book from Actes Sud, Racehorses, Owners.

RULING COURT
The Oxford dictionary defines the word‘ ruling’, when used as an adjective, as“ to exercise authority or influence.” Ruling Court did more than exercise his authority over the 2,000 Guineas field on Saturday the 3 rd of May.
It was like watching the scene from Gladiator where Russel crow has audience of the Colosseum fixed on his every movement and word. Where eyes were drawn to nothing else and only, he mattered.“ Are you not entertained?” should have been Godolphin’ s cry as he was welcomed backed into the winner’ s enclosure. Should we be surprised though? It was a weekend to remember for Godolphin. A weekend unlike any other, infact for Sheik Mohammed. As a racing owner, he has pretty much achieved everything there is to
