ENGLISH VERSION to wear the famous purple and black colours with that golden pompom on the cap. At home everyone started putting pressure on me:“ Please, can you clean your boots properly for once!”“ Make an effort to smile when you come back to weigh in, even if there’ s been bumping or if you’ re disappointed.”“ I can’ t believe it, you pony riders are really spoiled.”“ Ride neatly— the Queen was a very good horsewoman and had a sharp eye, my boy …” After the race, I sent a thank-you email in English( unfortunately it hadn’ t gone especially well for me). Finding the right words was a little difficult, but I wrote it with genuine gratitude. I attached a photo of myself in the paddock. In the background, the British flag was flying and I thought it would be a nice little nod to the Queen, even though I knew perfectly well she probably did not read every message she received. A few days later, Mum called me into her office to read a message. It was in English and I stumbled through it, but I immediately recognised the golden symbol of the British monarchy at the bottom of the email. I thought to myself what a crazy thing this race had become in my life. I simply couldn’ t believe that racing manager John Warren had taken the time to reply to me. I felt incredibly, unbelievably honoured. His message was detailed and directly responded to my thank-you note. For a few moments I considered telling my English teacher at school about it, but she would never believe me. So I kept it to myself … except for giving it a full page in the 2023 photo album! God save the King— and pony racing too, if possible!!!

THE LEMON TWIGS Look for Your Mind! Believe it or not, this is already the sixth studio album from The Lemon Twigs. Compared to their idols, the D’ Addario brothers were born thirty years too late. If you love The Beatles or The Beach Boys, and even better, both, this duo is handing you the headphones. Brian and Michael D’ Addario make no secret of this double admiration, patiently nurtured by their musician father, to the point of describing their own sound as” Mersey Beach”, a nod to the aquatic and musical currents flowing from Liverpool and California. The result is a vibrant pop-rock universe: light, inventive, irresistibly catchy. Borrowing the codes of their illustrious predecessors, the Long Island brothers take great pleasure in bringing even more sunshine to an already scorching spring. Summer has already arrived through the speakers.
SONNY ROLLINS Saxophone Colossus A legend and patriarch of jazz and hard bop, the” Colossus” passed away on Whit Monday at the age of 95. Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, the Harlem native played alongside the greatest names in jazz, and his passing somehow brings an era of giants to a close. Among his vast discography, Saxophone Colossus stands out almost naturally. Released in the wake of Tenor Madnessand following the legendary twelve-minute duet with Coltrane, it was the album that launched his career and earned him the nickname” Colossus” of the tenor saxophone. Five tracks recorded for the Prestige label, driven by the opening classic” St. Thomas.” From the Williamsburg Bridge, where he so loved to practise, to generations of masterclasses, his final breath now echoes into eternity.
KURT VILE Philadelphia ' s Been Good to Me Fearing a false start, or even disqualification, by dedicating this column to Angine de Poitrine, the latest experimental rock sensation out of Quebec, we opted instead for a quieter, more consensual, gentler and ultimately safer choice. Alongside Mac DeMarco, Kurt Vile is one of
