France in Galiway and Intello, and then descendants including grandsons Sealiway( Galiway), Vadeni( Churchill) and Onesto( Frankel) and more distant relations like Ace Impact( Frankel and Cracksman). The Green Desert line continues in France through Muharaar( Oasis Dream) and Belbek( Oasis Dream and Showcasing) and then Persian King, Chacnak and Feed The Flame, all sons of Kingman( Invincible Spirit). Sea The Stars( Cape Cross) has Zelzal and then Sosie, who could be a new sire in France in 2026.
Dubawi and Wootton Bassett: the rightful heirs Zarak is now established as one of the leading stallion sons of Dubawi and his own sons Metropolitan and Zagrey retired to stud in 2025. Other members of this line include Erevann, like Zarak a son of Dubawi and a Group 1 winning mare, and the multiple Group 1 winner Mishriff( through Makfi and Make Believe). Other lines represented in France include Victor Ludorum, one of last sons of Shamardal, and Charyn and Angel Bleu, both sons of the Acclamation sire Dark Angel, a line which has been more prominent in Britain and Ireland( Mehmas) than in France. Siyouni’ s son City Light has made a successful start to his stud career and other sons at stud in France include Al Hakeem and God Blessing. Siyouni is a son of Pivotal, however, both he and his sons have a lot of Danehill in their genes, the sire of his dam Sichilla. Pivotal’ s prominence as a broodmare sire does limit to a degree the mares available to sons of Siyouni. The last two lines to consider which could both become far more important over the medium term are the lines from Wootton Bassett and descendants of Scat Daddy, a short lived son of Johannesburg. There are going to many sons of Wootton Bassett at stud in Ireland and in France he has Wooded, already a Group 1 sire, and River Tiber. Scat Daddy has the obscure pedigree which could help his sons and descendants shine. His sons Van Beethoven and Seabhac stand in France as does Armor( No Nay Never). If Scat Daddy is to become a major influence in Europe it is likely to be through his son Justify, sire of City of Troy and for time being none of the US Triple Crown winner’ s sons have retired to France.

LAURENT DENIEL
Galorama. Which stallion has impressed you the most in terms of bloodline?
Laurent Deniel. I think it’ s somewhat generational. I would say that the Galileo line is remarkable and personally,
I enjoy working in breeding with mares by Galileo. They bring great scope and exceptional movement. Certain stallions transmit these qualities admirably, such as Wootton Bassett, Lope de Vega, Gleneagles, or even Persian King, who in my view will have interesting potential as a broodmare sire. In breeding, the broodmare sire is crucial, because around 65 % of the foal comes from the dam, hence its importance. Galileo, by Sadler’ s Wells out of Northern Dancer, with a maternal side including Urban Sea by Miswaki and Mr Prospector, represents an incredible bloodline, one that has produced many stallions.
G. Which stallion would be your personal favourite?
L. D. I also have a great appreciation for the progeny of Siyouni, often very classy, high-quality and well put together. His daughters transmit his characteristics very well. He is an exceptional stallion, with dominant genetics in terms of gene transmission. Even if I am not a genetics specialist, I find that he really passes on his traits strongly.
G. What would be your ideal cross to make a stallion?
L. D. I don’ t have a precise example of an ideal cross. To create a stallion, you first need strong performances at two or three at Group level, as well as a solid maternal pedigree. Conformation comes in third position. Regarding bloodlines, that
