DAY 2 • Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania
At your lodgings near Arusha, meet your fellow travelers, including those who took our optional pre-trip extension to Foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro: Maasai Visits & Game Drives or Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve.

DAY 3 • Arusha • Safe Water Ceramics • Conversation about Tanzanians with albinism
Visit Safe Water Ceramics of East Africa and learn about their efforts to increase access to clean water for the people of Africa. Later, learn about the persecution of those living with albinism from the director of the Albino Peacemaker Center.

DAY 4 • Tarangire National Park • Maasai market • Game-viewing drive
On our way to Tarangire National Park, we'll visit a local Maasai market and enjoy a game-viewing drive with a picnic lunch. We'll check into our camp late in the afternoon.

DAY 5 • Tarangire National Park • Game-viewing drive
Enjoy a morning game-viewing drive in Tarangire National Park, seeking out wildlife that includes elephant, zebra, kongoni, impala, eland, and gazelle. Back at our lodge, you can relax or join an elective guided walk.

DAY 6 • A Day in the Life of a Maasai village • Controversial Topic: Female genital mutilation • Karatu
Spend A Day in the Life of a Maasai village to glimpse the day-to-day lives of one of Africa's most iconic ethnic groups. Participate in daily activities, like milking cows or wearing traditional dress, and sit down with the village chief and a tribeswoman to discuss the Controversial Topic of female genital mutilation, a common practice in the village. En route to Karatu, we'll stop at a local market in Mto Wa Mbu village.

DAY 7 • Travel to Serengeti camp
Transfer to Serengeti National Park, enjoying game-viewing and a picnic lunch en route. We'll arrive at O.A.T.'s private tented camp in the afternoon.

DAY 8 • Serengeti National Park • Game-viewing drive
Venture out on multiple game-viewing drives daily during your stay in the Serengeti, whose vast plains are home to the world's greatest concentration of wildlife. Spend our nights under the star-filled African skies, and enjoy our lodging with covered verandas, comfortable beds, and private showers.

DAY 9 • Optional Sunrise Safari & Hot Air Balloon tour • Conversation about Serengeti poaching • Game-viewing drives
You can rise early for an optional Sunrise Safari & Hot Air Balloon Ride tour, and then meet up with the rest of the group during our daily game-viewing excursions. We'll also hear about poaching in the Serengeti and how it impacts surrounding "buffer zone" communities.

On Days 7-10, spend four nights in O.A.T.'s private tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti, and sleep under a star-filled African sky.
DAY 10 • Serengeti game-viewing drives
Serengeti means "endless plain" in the Maasai language and-as you'll discover when we journey across this vast land during morning and afternoon drives, we'll see everything from lion, cheetah, and giraffe to zebra, topi, and eland.

On Day 12, meet the students of a local primary school in the village of Karatu, supported in part by Grand Circle Foundation.
DAY 11 • Serengeti • Ngorongoro Crater
Set off for Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unflooded caldera in the world. There's considerable movement of animals in this area, and the landscape is surprisingly green and lush. We'll enjoy a game-viewing drive and lunch in the crater before transferring to our lodge in Karatu.

DAY 12 • Ngorongoro Highlands & Karatu • GCF visit: Local school • Iraqw village
Spend time with the children and teachers of a local primary school-supported in part by Grand Circle Foundation-and learn more about education in Tanzania. Then, visit an Iraqw village, where we'll be welcomed into the home of a tribe member. We gather for a Farewell Dinner this evening.

DAY 13 • Arusha • Conversation about Tanzania's disabled population • Return to U.S.
Learn about the treatment of Tanzanians with physical disabilities during a conversation at Shanga House-a crafts workshop largely run by locals with physical handicaps. Then, you'll have a day room available until we transfer to the airport for our flights to the U.S. or to begin The Spice Island of Zanzibar post-trip extension.
