IN THE EYE OF

JEANNE SAINT CHÉRON
BY HERMANCE CLERON
Her first love, without question, is the horse. Whether in sport or in drawing, Jeanne Saint Chéron harbors a true passion for this animal. She first pursued a career as a show jumping rider while drawing self-taught, purely for pleasure. Over time, she realized that her place was not within the equestrian world and decided to move away from it in order to devote herself fully to art as a professional pursuit. Her works attract attention, and for good reason: she has developed a recognizable universe, imbued with poetry and dreamlike imagery. It was not a deliberate choice that led her to this style; rather, her life’ s journey naturally intertwined with her artistic path, and thus her world took shape. Gradually, imagination took precedence over reality, giving rise to horses with powerful musculature, often accompanied by feminine figures. Her inspiration also comes from memories of a happy childhood shared with her four sisters.“ I would love to be in the place of the characters I paint. They are strong and gentle women, in perfect harmony with the horse.” The uniqueness of her work also lies in the combination of acrylic paint and black stone, always preceded by a charcoal preparatory drawing, resulting in creations that are both painted and drawn. An accomplished artist, her works are exhibited in numerous art galleries and at equestrian events, such as the Qatar Prix de l’ Arc de Triomphe between 2008 and 2010.

UNSTOPPABLE LEGEND
Horse racing delivers an adrenaline rush that defies words, a lesson in humility taught only by horses, a human adventure fueled by teamwork, passion and the wild twists of fate that shape the very best stories. The kind of novel we devour page after page, swept through every emotion: laughter, tears, dazzling triumphs, stinging setbacks, tension, apprehension, uninterrupted suspense, pure joy. In autumn, when November reignites the intensity of the great battles over jumps, one of those epic book stands out with a name on the cover: Willie Mullins. A family saga you can picture yourself reading by a crackling fireplace, in the heart of a pub lost deep within the misty Irish countryside, with live folk music humming in the background. Willie Mullins is not only the trainer of all records and all superlatives, the undisputed master of Cheltenham, he is also a tireless horseman and a bold adventurer, determined to conquer the world, not content with ruling over jumps but daring to challenge the flat as well. After all, who but Willie Mullins could conquer America and one of its most historic races, the Breeders’ Cup Turf( Gr. 1) with a horse like Ethical Diamond( Awtaad), discovered in the ring at Tattersalls and first honed over jumps? Who but Willie Mullins could force us to rethink our front page, just days before going to press, after pulling off such a feat? It is the privilege of legends.
