Hörmann Supports Lifeboat Station

Hörmann UK has reinforced its commitment to supporting local communities by donating an SPU 42 industrial sectional door, WA 500 operator and matching NT60 side door to Ferryside Lifeboat in Carmarthenshire, South West Wales.

FOUNDED IN 1835, Ferryside Lifeboat operates within the Three Rivers Estuary and is one of more than 80 independent inshore lifeboat organisations across the UK. Working alongside the RNLI, Ferryside Lifeboat is a declared search and rescue facility operating under the direction and coordination of HM Coastguard. The station is staffed entirely by volunteers from the local community and is wholly funded through charitable donations.

The donated Hörmann products have been installed on the station’ s main lifeboat facility, which houses its 6.4m rigid inflatable boat( RIB). Designed to withstand the demanding coastal environment, the SPU 42 industrial sectional door provides excellent thermal insulation together with the strength and durability required for a busy operational rescue station.

To maximise natural daylight within the building, the door incorporates three glazed sections fitted with Hörmann’ s DURATEC synthetic glazing. Highly resistant to scratching while maintaining excellent transparency, DURATEC glazing is ideally suited to challenging environments where long-term performance and visibility are essential.

The sectional door is powered by a Hörmann WA 500 operator, delivering fast, reliable door operation while enhancing safety, security and operational efficiency. The operator’ s robust design also helps reduce maintenance requirements, ensuring dependable performance for years to come. Completing the installation is a matching NT60 side door, creating a coordinated appearance with all doors finished in RAL 3000 Flame red.

This is not the first time Hörmann has supported the volunteer rescue organisation. The company previously donated an LPU 42 sectional garage door for the station’ s secondary storage facility, which houses the smaller Zodiac inflatable lifeboat used during low-water operations.

The latest donation reflects Hörmann UK’ s ongoing commitment to supporting worthwhile community projects and organisations whose work makes a genuine difference.
