NEWS FROM THE DHF

DHF Building Hardware Training Programme Gains Momentum Following Successful Launch

Door & Hardware Federation( DHF) has launched a new accredited training programme designed to give professionals across the building hardware sector the knowledge and recognised qualification needed to support competence and career development. DHF Core Competencies: Understanding Building Hardware is an online learning programme leading to an Ofqual-regulated Level 2 certificate, accredited by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment( ABBE). The course is now live and is available exclusively to DHF members until January 2027, when access will be opened to the wider industry.
DEVELOPED WITH everyone from customer service teams to product managers, as well as those looking to enter the building hardware sector, the programme provides a grounding in building hardware while giving learners the opportunity to develop knowledge in specific product areas. It can also be used for employee induction and on-going professional development. All learners complete a mandatory Core Module made up of six guided learning units with multiple-choice assessments, before choosing at least one of 12 Product Modules. Further modules can be purchased at any time, meaning individuals can build their knowledge around their own role and responsibilities.
Those who successfully complete the programme receive a DHF Level 2 Certificate in Core Competencies: Understanding Building Hardware, together with an Ofqual-branded certificate from ABBE. Each product module completed is also listed on the certificate, giving employers clear evidence of the individual’ s knowledge in particular areas. Learners are supported by a dedicated study guide containing learning outcomes, guided note-taking sections and prompts to help them work through the course.
The programme has been developed with significant input from industry, with leading manufacturers and specialists contributing their experience and knowledge to help shape the content.
