JONATHAN PALMER CHIEF EXECUTIVE MOTORSPORT VISION
Welcome to Donington Park for our biggest race event of the season- the annual summer visit from the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
We’ re always delighted to welcome the championship and series organiser Dorna back to the circuit each year, and this is of course where it all began back in 1988. Few venues have hosted more World Superbike events than Donington Park has since then, and our venue very much remains the spiritual home of WorldSBK.
Donington Park is rightly recognised as one of the world’ s best circuits for motorcycle racing, and given the quality of the racing witnessed in World Superbikes so far in 2025, this weekend’ s action should make for fascinating viewing.
In just his second season at this level, Ducati’ s Nicolò Bulega has been hugely impressive, and has built on his runner-up spot last year to become effectively the team’ s leader. BMW’ s Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is his biggest rival for the title – and he’ s been almost unbeatable here across the last four seasons. If Bulega can emerge on top this weekend, it will be a serious statement of intent.
It’ s been a frustrating season for the British riders so far, but I’ ve no doubt that with crowd support behind them, the six home heroes led by the Lowes twins and Scott Redding can step up this weekend and hopefully challenge for the podium spots at a circuit they know better than any other.
As well as the superb racing on offer this weekend, this is one of the busiest off track events of the year. Access to the Paddock Show and Victory Lane elements of the event is free to all visitors throughout the event, so don’ t miss out on the chance to join in the podium celebrations over the next few days, or to take a wander around the paddocks to get a closer glimpse of the preparations behind the scenes.
There’ s still plenty more to look forward to at Donington Park during the remainder of the season, including more excellent bike racing at the Classic Motorcycle Festival on 2 / 3 August, and the second visit of the year from the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on 5-7 September.
Convoy in the Park( 9 / 10 August), British Touring Cars( 30 / 31 August), Bennetts British Superbikes( 5-7 September) and British GT( 4 / 5 October) events are also still to come during the next few months.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our venue this weekend, and that you return again for some of our great remaining events in 2025.
