OFFICIAL PROGRAMME

GREGORIO LAVILLA CHAMPIONSHIP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Following a hugely dramatic 2024 season that saw Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finally regain the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship crown after finishing runner-up in 2022 and 2023, this year the Turkish superstar will attempt to become just the fourth rider in the sport’s history to win three or more titles.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the Donington Park round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
We started the 2025 season with a renewed sense of optimism and an ever-greater determination to provide another successful year of competition in the most prestigious production derived FIM World Championship of all.
However, the twenty-eight-year-old will not be the only rider aiming to accomplish this rare feat and his Spanish rival Álvaro Bautista – Champion in 2022 and 2023 – will also be aiming to complete his hat-trick this season, although with a world-class field comprising riders from nine nations assembling to do battle neither rider can afford to rest on their laurels.
With half of the season now complete we have already witnessed many entertaining spectacles across all the competing categories. We hope for even more spectacular races for all to enjoy in the second half of the campaign, starting right here at Donington Park.
Getting under way in February at Australia’s Phillip Island, the twelve-round series will then return to Europe where it will be decided at eleven of the continent’s premier circuits, eventually signing off at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto in Spain in October.
After a major redesign of the 2024 Official Race Programme format we have taken an evolutionary approach in 2025 to make it as informative and entertaining as ever. It will also be a permanent reminder of what we hope will be another enthralling weekend of racing.
On behalf of the FIM I would like to thank all who make the Championship possible including promoter Dorna WSBK Organization, the national federations and local organisers, FIM officials, the riders and teams, the manufacturers, volunteers, the media, all associated partners, sponsors and fans.
With the WorldSBK paddock featuring production derived machines in all our categories there is an ongoing requirement to ensure fair competition for all manufacturers and teams. To this end the FIM has now introduced fuel flow controls into the WorldSBK class, after extensive testing in real race situations throughout 2024. This will be the primary form of ‘balancing rule’ from now on.
As ever, I offer my sincere thanks to all the competing manufacturers, teams and riders, plus our valued sponsors and partners, for continuing their close relationships with WorldSBK. An equally great level of thanks goes out to the respective National and Local Governments, the FIM, all the host venues, marshals, volunteers and support staff for these vital roles they play across each and every WorldSBK season.
WELCOME TO WorldSBK 5JONATHAN PALMER CHIEF EXECUTIVE MOTORSPORT VISION
Welcome to Donington Park for our biggest race event of the season - the annual summer visit from the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
It’s been a frustrating season for the British riders so far, but I’ve no doubt that with crowd support behind them, the six home heroes led by the Lowes twins and Scott Redding can step up this weekend and hopefully challenge for the podium spots at a circuit they know better than any other.
As well as the superb racing on offer this weekend, this is one of the busiest off track events of the year. Access to the Paddock Show and Victory Lane elements of the event is free to all visitors throughout the event, so don’ t miss out on the chance to join in the podium celebrations over the next few days, or to take a wander around the paddocks to get a closer glimpse of the preparations behind the scenes.
We’re always delighted to welcome the championship and series organiser Dorna back to the circuit each year, and this is of course where it all began back in 1988. Few venues have hosted more World Superbike events than Donington Park has since then, and our venue very much remains the spiritual home of WorldSBK.
Donington Park is rightly recognised as one of the world’s best circuits for motorcycle racing, and given the quality of the racing witnessed in World Superbikes so far in 2025, this weekend’s action should make for fascinating viewing.
There’s still plenty more to look forward to at Donington Park during the remainder of the season, including more excellent bike racing at the Classic Motorcycle Festival on 2/3 August, and the second visit of the year from the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on 5-7 September.
In just his second season at this level, Ducati’s Nicolò Bulega has been hugely impressive, and has built on his runner-up spot last year to become effectively the team’s leader. BMW’s Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is his biggest rival for the title – and he’s been almost unbeatable here across the last four seasons. If Bulega can emerge on top this weekend, it will be a serious statement of intent.
Convoy in the Park (9/10 August), British Touring Cars (30/31 August), Bennetts British Superbikes (5-7 September) and British GT (4/5 October) events are also still to come during the next few months.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our venue this weekend, and that you return again for some of our great remaining events in 2025.
