Spring 2025 Inside Cox | Hope Grows Here

Cox Farms has joined forces with Feeding America to nourish communities and fight food insecurity

With 700 acres of advanced greenhouses, teams from Mucci Farms and BrightFarms — the two brands that make up Cox Farms — harvest over 450 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables every year.

Now, a partnership with Feeding America will direct 3 million pounds of that bountiful harvest to families in need across the United States and Canada. Each strawberry, pepper and leaf of lettuce represents not just food, but hope for people facing hunger.

“Cox Farms is committed to making a difference in the communities we serve, and this partnership reflects our mission to provide access to fresh, healthy food for people facing hunger,” said Steven Bradley, president of Cox Farms.

“By leveraging our cutting-edge greenhouse technology and sustainable practices, we’re addressing food insecurity while ensuring nutritious produce reaches families throughout the year.”

This international nonprofit partnership, the first for Cox Farms, weaves together several missions near and dear to our hearts: empowering people to live more prosperous lives, protecting our planet and investing in innovative technologies to build a better future for the next generation.

Feeding America has nationwide volunteers who help fight food insecurity.

EMPOWERING PEOPLE

Five years ago, we set an ambitious goal to empower 34 million people to live more prosperous lives by 2034. This goal, known as 34 by 34, gives us an unprecedented opportunity to take meaningful action in the communities where we live and work, expand our partnerships and translate our ambition into measurable progress.

34 by 34 focuses on six pathways where we believe our business has the tools, resources and know-how to make a real impact. Our partnership with Feeding America supports the Good Health pathway, which focuses on helping people overcome health and well-being challenges, enabling them to live happier, healthier and more prosperous lives.

PROTECTING OUR PLANET

Our approach to agriculture, one built on innovation and efficiency, demonstrates how modern farming can address multiple challenges simultaneously.

Indoor greenhouses use less water and land per yield than traditional farming, conserving the planet’s natural resources. This farming system also is more resilient to climate change and seasonal weather fluctuations, offering consumers — and Feeding America families — a year-round supply of nutrient-rich food that does not contain pesticides or harmful chemicals.

Our partnership with Feeding America also creates a powerful synergy. Together, we are proving that fighting hunger and reducing waste can go hand in hand. While Feeding America’s vast network keeps an astonishing 4 billion pounds of food waste out of landfills annually — enough to fill 57,000 semi-trucks — we also have a proven track record for keeping things clean and reducing landfill use.

Cox Enterprises achieved its Zero Waste to Landfill goal in 2024, becoming the first service-based enterprise verified by Zero Waste USA to meet its definition of zero waste. Our 92% diversion rate has been verified by GreenCircle Certified.

BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE

Innovation and sustainability are at the core of our FutureFocus 2034 vision, driving technological advancements that help future-proof our food supply and establishing partnerships that will benefit generations to come.

“Together with Cox Farms, we are providing more access to nutritious food, including fresh produce all year round, to people facing hunger in communities across the country,” said Erika Thiem, chief supply chain officer for Feeding America. “This partnership shows how innovation in agriculture can help solve one of society’s most pressing challenges.”
