The new dishes have been created to give those on a Level 4 and Level 5 diet more variety and flavour than ever before. Thanks to the team of chefs and in-house dietitians you can also rest assured that, not only do these dishes taste fantastic, they are also packed with essential vitamins and minerals, so there’s no compromise on nutritional intake.
Your service users can choose from Level 4 Purée Sausage Roll as a light snack alternative during the day; a Level 4 Purée Pastry Topped Steak Pie, featuring puréed steak beneath a buttery pastry top, served with mashed potatoes and peas; or a Level 4 Purée Cheese Omelette served with deliciously browned chips and beans.
The Level 5 range now features a Minced Hunter’s Chicken, in a rich tomato and cheese sauce, served with extra buttery mashed potato and broccoli, as well as a Minced Sweet and Sour Chicken, served with white rice: a tasty takeaway favourite ready in less time than anyone could deliver.
Preparing softer meals yourself is not only a whole lot of effort – it’s a lot of trial and error too! With the Softer Foods dishes from Wiltshire Farm Foods, you get perfect results, effortlessly. So why should your service users battle with all that cooking, chopping, blending and washing up? They can simply pop what they fancy into the microwave or oven from frozen, then savour rich and varied flavours in the texture that’s right for them.
Certain flavours also create delightful moments of nostalgia and this is certainly the case for Wiltshire Farm Foods Essex-based customer, Richard Jackson.
Since his bowel cancer diagnosis Richard’s diet has become quite limited: ‘I loved fish and chips and would eat it sometimes two or three times a week. My dietitian advised I switch to a Level 4 Purée diet after my diagnosis to ease the passing of food.
‘Wiltshire Farm Foods has a great range of meals in its Softer Foods range and the flavours of its latest Fish and Chips dish takes me back to a happier time when I was well and enjoyed regular visits to the Chippy!’
As Richard lives in Clacton-on-Sea, the smell of fish and chips are quite commonplace, especially during the summer months when the town is at its busiest.
He enjoys nothing more than sitting out on his balcony and admiring the sea view and Wiltshire Farm Foods’ Level 4 Purée Fish & Chips is the perfect accompaniment to a relaxing summer evening.
Wiltshire Farm Foods Development Chef, Jethro Lawrence, has been developing this particular dish over the last 18 months or so: ‘We eat with our eyes and we’ve always been committed to making our dishes look as delicious as possible, whilst also ensuring they meet nutritional requirements for our customers.
‘The peas in our Level 4 Purée Fish & Chips look especially vibrant in colour and are no different to freshly cooked peas, other than their moulding and texture. Our batter is particularly innovative which tops the white fish, and creates a distinct layer, similar to the real thing.
‘We can’t wait for our customers to try these new flavours.’
