At each round we are asking some of the top riders what the whole WorldSBK scene means to them. Professionally, personally, in any way of thinking. This time around, we have two WorldSBK figures, and two more riders from Italy, who took very different paths into their current shared paddock.

Andrea Iannone- Team Pata GO Eleven
Proven MotoGP™ race winner Iannone had to serve a long regulatory ban before coming into WorldSBK to restart his career. He was immediately strong, hungry, and fast, scoring podiums and then that famous race win at Motorland Aragon in 2024.
Back for more in 2025 with the same team, he is again frequently at the sharp end. He said of the paddock in his second WorldSBK season,“ This is a great family, I felt immediately at my ease last year when I came inside. It’ s quite different from MotoGP™, but the level of rider and bikes is extremely high. Races are hard, strong, and I think now there is more possibility to overtake and put on a show here.”
For Iannone, after such a long time away, there were doubts about how fast he could still be after all those missing seasons.
“ Here in Superbike, I could show that I still got it, and I have something to put on track,” said Andrea.“ I started from zero last year, now I know that we are quite competitive and we can fight for the top. It’ s not easy because there are many manufacturers, but we won a race, we are constantly close to the podium, and it means we are there.”
WorldSBK is seen by Andrea as a championship with both real possibilities and real challenges.“ Winning the World Championship is my goal, of course. I come here to win every race. But I have to live step-by-step and race-by-race. I try to do my best with the team, but it’ s not always easy to find the right way.”
A népszerű, MotoGP™-ben is győztes Iannone 2024-ben, hosszú eltiltása után érkezett a Superbike világbajnokságra, hogy adjon egy második esélyt karrierjének. Már a szezon kezdetén erős, és eredménycentrikus volt, rátermettségét pedig dobogós helyekkel is bizonyította. Végül Motorland Aragonban megtörtént a csoda, amikor futamot is nyert. Az idei évben maradt a csapatánál, és gyakran ismét a határokat súrolja. A második szezonját töltve így vélekedett a depóról:“ A Superbike-vb egy nagyszerű, megnyugtató család. Ezt éreztem, amikor csatlakoztam hozzájuk tavaly. Ugyan más, mint a MotoGP, de mind a motorok, mind a versenyzők kvalitása nagyon magas. A versenyek kemények, és színvonalasak, továbbá úgy vélem, itt jelenleg több lehetőségünk van csatázni, előzni, és show-t csinálni.”
Iannone számára, egy ilyen hosszú távollét után kétségek merültek fel azzal kapcsolatban, hogy mennyire lehet még gyors a kihagyott szezonok után.
„ Itt a Superbike-vb-n tudtam megmutatni, hogy még mindig megvan bennem a potenciál, és van keresnivalóm a pályán” – mondta Iannone. „ Tavaly a nulláról indultam, de most már tudom, hogy elég versenyképesek vagyunk, és harcolhatunk az első helyekért. Ugyan nem könnyű, mert sok gyártó van, de tavaly még egy futamot is nyertünk, valamint idén is rendre a dobogó közelében vagyunk, ami azt jelenti, hogy jó úton járunk.”
Andrea Iannone a Superbike-vb-t egy olyan bajnokságnak tekinti, amelyben valódi lehetőségek és kihívások vannak egyaránt. „ Természetesen a világbajnokság megnyerése a célom. Azért jöttem ide, hogy minden futamot megnyerjek. De lépésről lépésre és futamról futamra kell haladnom. Megpróbálom a legjobbat nyújtani és fejlődni a csapattal, de nem mindig könnyű megtalálni a helyes utat.”
