Can You Generate Some Energy for a Generator?
It started with swimmers and now includes runners, weight lifters, bicyclists, and pickleballers. They are all raising money for a generator for our local YMCA, which is also our designated Red Cross site in case of disaster.
How does it work? People set a personal challenge, such as,“ I’ m going to swim ten miles in September!” Then they get friends and family to support the effort by making a pledge. You can help generate funds for the generator starting at one dollar a mile to— well, the sky’ s the limit.
You can swim, bike, run, play and / or lift! Any YMCA member can participate in this fundraising effort! You can support a member who sets a goal to run or bicycle the distance they choose. You can be a participant and collect pledges— or you can be a donor and support one or multiple people in their effort to raise money.
July 1 was the kick off! Monthly fundraising campaigns run through September.
