This October, art lovers are invited to venture beyond the galleries of downtown Nashville into the studios of some of the area’ s artists during the 2026 Brown County Back Roads Studio Tour.
This is a free, self-guided journey through the working studios Wednesday through Saturday., with many studios also open Sunday from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.
Now entering its 29th year, the Studio Tour continues a tradition that began in 1998 when a group of local artists opened their private workspaces to the public. What started as a grassroots effort has grown into one of Brown County’ s signature cultural experiences, offering residents and visitors a look inside the studios where art is imagined and brought to life.
Unlike a traditional gallery visit, the Back Roads Studio Tour invites guests to meet artists in their creative environments, watch live demonstrations, learn about techniques, and purchase original artwork directly from the people who made it. From painting, pottery, glass art, woodworking, metal

sculpture, fiber arts, jewelry, blacksmithing, and mixed media to handcrafted home décor, the tour showcases Brown County’ s diversity.
The 2026 tour features 26 artisans across 22 studio locations, each offering a unique opportunity to experience the creative process firsthand while exploring the scenic back roads that provide the artists inspiration.
