An intern, however, can derive something useful, as I have been interpreting children's charts for more than twenty years using this method, and I have things to share. Is it interesting? I begin, then. At first sight it may seem that interpretation of a child's and an adult's radixes do not differ, as every human being is born with a unique cosmic passport which is valid all one's life, and decryption of the chart does not depend upon its owner's age. Nevertheless, interpreting a child's radix is actually a separate astrological tune. Firstly, the child has not authorized disclosure of his or her horoscope, that is why I give the parents only those pieces of information that can help them fulfill their parental functions. I never give answers to the questions evoked by pure curiosity (e. g. when will the child get married, will he or she be rich, how many children will he or she have). Secondly, I consider a more narrow range of topics when interpreting a child's radix, and I explore only those that can help parents bring the child to life in the best way and give him or her a good start: disclose the general goal of the given incarnation, child's individual features and inborn inclinations. I never touch upon health issues, as I am convinced that only astrologers with academic medical education can determine problematic or strong aspects of an organism. There is no place for amateurism here. Thirdly and finally, I always provide parents with some pedagogical recommendations based on the child's revealed features. I have the right to do this, as I have a higher education as a child educational psychologist and twenty years of practice. So. At the beginning of our astrological conversation I ask the parents to imagine a deep ocean with a big turtle at the bottom and a horse's collar floating on the surface. Will it be easy for the turtle to get into the collar if it comes to the surface? I doubt it. What I say is that the probability of a human Soul on Earth is even smaller. This image adopted from an Old Chinese epos leads the parents to a humanistic way and allows them to fell deeply the ultimate responsibility for the incarnated Soul – the baby born. After such an introduction the parents percept astrological information quite adequately; the allegory easily leads the parents off the widespread acquisitive attitude to their offspring (this is my thing, I put it where I want). I define the luggage with which the baby has come to Earth and the things he or she should acquire and learn. I remember that when I was a student at my Pedagogical Institute, I could not accept the statement (given by professors) that a child is like tabula rasa, so we can form any desirable personality with education. And only one third of our individuality was thought to be independent of external input, and it was heredity. But my great experience as a teacher and a mother of three sons, as well as rich astrological practice, disprove this statement. I am convinced that every child is born with a formed core of nature colored by variegated crystal of flairs; and the adult's aim is not to model something desirable from the child, but to help a newborn human being to fulfill himself on the basis of his or her uniqueness and singularity. This inherent potential, the already created core of nature is what Ketu shows. By the way, this astrological information is often proved in real life. It is seen in the conditions in which the child was born, in the events of his life, in his interests and ardors. I describe the Lunar Nodes to parents not as two polar discrete points but as a single vector, and I appeal for keeping its balance and not overloading its basis – the past experience. It is crucial, as adults are often tempted to exploit the child's inherent talents to the detriment of the objective shown by Rahu. This situation is common in case the child is born with evident indications of some talents. These are the points of force the person should be guided by in order to develop new features and aspects of their nature. But paternal intrusion into child's life and putting their hopes into child's evident inherent talents often turns out to be a disservice, and many young geniuses are not to be envied. When the Lunar Nodes return, the critical mass of Ketu outweighs Rahu and disturbs the axis balance, and a lot of achievements crumble into dust. Bright talents, which were revealed in childhood, stay unrealized and bring no happiness. For example, I knew a boy with LN axis in Capricorn and Cancer. He was born in a professor's family; he learned to read very early and demonstrated intellectual ability beyond his years. At the age of four, he could be seen reading a Brockhaus volume or found in a natural science museum talking to a guide about dinosaurs. The parents were preoccupied developing his intellect and targeted him at a brilliant career in science. That is why they protected the boy from any household cares or problems in the family. 39
