THE CONCEPT OF STYLISTIC STRATIFICATION OF VOCABULARY AND
LINGUISTIC SIGNS OF STYLISTIC DISTINCTION
Annotation. The presented article discusses the problem of the use of concept
about stylistic stratification of vocabulary, and also linguistic features of stylistic
differentiation. The importance of study of this problem consists in stylistic
stratification of dictionaries, stylistic markers in lexicology, phraseology and
methodology. The article provides the different examples of words with stylistic
abbreviations that are assigned to a certain style.
Keywords: functional style, emotional and expressive coloring of the word,
evaluative vocabulary.
Depending on the purpose and theme of the statement, the speaker or writer
chooses the words he needs from the lexical system of the Russian language. For
example, in an official business document and in a letter to a loved one on the same
topic different words will be used. This phenomenon is due to the so-called functional-
style stratification of Russian vocabulary, that is, the presence of such lexical units in
it, the choice of which depends on their intended role in the process of implementing
one of the functions of the language: communication, message or influence. The
function of communication is performed, as a rule, by the words of a spoken style in its
oral form of manifestation, the function of message and influence is performed by the
words of one of the book styles: official business, scientific, newspaper - publicistic,
and mostly in written form. These functions are also performed by a variety of fiction
styles. The identification of the functional and stylistic affiliation of a word, as a rule,
is closely connected with the definition of its expressive role, that is, the expressiveness
of its emotional properties and other features, which in general are often called the
stylistic coloring of the word, that is, its expressive-stylistic content [1, p. 24].
The lexicographical or vocabulary representation of the text is eager to combine
and coordinate as much as possible the grammatical, lexical and stylistic properties of
the text, it can be integral. The integral description absolutely corresponds to the
consideration of such a factor, and, being for a long period of time the main object of
linguistics, still does not have a specific definition. In the dictionary view, the title text
is designated as a word form every time with grammatical, stylistic, and other marks,
and the dictionary entry opens the table of contents of the title text and in general is a
lexeme. This means, in fact, that between the word form, the title text and the lexeme,
complex relations between form and content are clarified, where the lexeme is a large
number of word forms or analytical forms of phrases that differ from each other only in
word-meaning. In consequence of this, it is absolutely clear when the dictionary is
evaluated as a reference book, as a practical language aid - an application to grammar.
Such an applied method is characteristic of sensible monolingual dictionaries. A
special feature of the explanatory dictionary is the duality of the representation of the
word lexeme in it. First of all, the title text of a dictionary note or the word lexeme
appears as a lexical component of the language system, and therefore it needs to be
