Bliss; such a positive state to be in. I mean, it is by all means a joyful experience, an ecstatic one. Who wouldn’ t want to be feeling this way? You wouldn’ t expect the ordinary, average person of today’ s day and age to be going on about their day all joyful-like thinking to themselves:“ Oh! What a time to be alive! The sun has risen and it is finally time to head to my 9-5 which I so adore! I get to work myself to exhaustion to earn a living! And then, I get to commute an hour in rush hour traffic to and return to my family which I have no time to spend with whatsoever, seeing as I need to wake up at the crack of dawn tomorrow, all to repeat this totally enjoyable and worthwhile daily life of mine. How exciting!”
And that is because they don’ t; nobody in their right mind thinks that way. In reality, work can be, and usually is, daunting, exhausting and draining. And yet there exist some that consider such seemingly dissatisfied people unbelievably lucky. How could that be? In what world is such an undesirable life envy-worthy? It makes no sense!
Or does it? Imagine those who have been victim of the trap we call“ today’ s working class” and have been forced to come to terms with a crushing truth, when faced with the realisation that hard work does not equal financial success. It is in fact not even a prerequisite. Countless occasions out there of unskilled individuals making a fortune from exploitation, fraud, or simply luck and other countless examples of hard-working, determined and honorable people who have wasted their life away endlessly trying and trying.
What is it that determines career success then, if not skill and capability? The answer isn’ t clear, but seems to be a mix of people’ s behavior and luck. Though, once luck gets involved it takes people’ s control and influence on success away. What is the point of working then? Putting in days upon days of restless
