Abstract
DRAMA / THEATRE-BASED EDUCATION AND PEDAGOGY IN VARIOUS EUROPEAN CULTURAL AND PEDAGOGIC TRADITIONS
The present-day understandings and concepts of drama / theatre education and pedagogy in various countries carry specific social , cultural and linguistic traits of the cultural and pedagogical traditions in which they gradually developed throughout the last century . The article provides an overview of the main features of drama / theatre educational work as they are manifested today in some of the most historically influential cultural and pedagogical contexts and traditions . In addition to the British tradition , representative of the much broader domain of the English speaking countries , the author presents understandings and models of drama / theatre educational work in the cultural and pedagogical traditions of the German and French speaking parts of the world , as well as in the Scandinavian regions . The article concludes by defining the basic features of the development of contemporary drama education in Croatia realized during the second half of the last century through the systematic and founding work of Zvjezdana Ladika , theatre director and our most important drama / theatre pedagogue .
