The Fife Schools FA’s cup finals
kicked off with Kirkcaldy HS Under
16’s stunning national champions
Dunfermline HS with a 3-2 victory,

April was also the first month for
the Cup Finals in the DDYFA, the
first team to pick up silverware was
Montrose as they won the under
13’s Diamond Jubilee cup after a 4-2
penalty shoot-out with Celtic Boys.
Fairmuir also took home a cup that
day as they defeated Pitfour 3-1 in a
spectacular performance. Domino
won the J. Cord under 19’s cup final
against Ferry Athletic in a triumphant
6-2 win.
A late goal gave Monifieth the
under 14’s Mac Brown Cup against
Montrose, as a Matthew Wilde
penalty was given in the 80th minute.
Monifieth were successful once
again but this time in the under 17’s
Rosslyn Cup as they put six past
Forfar BC. DUSC had another great
month once again, as they not only
progressed into the Scottish Cup
final after beating Craigie United in a
hard fought 1-0 win but also won the
Tommy Clark Trophy after beating
Luncarty Tangerines 4-0.
MAY
Despite a turbulent season at first
team level, Dunfermline Athletic
Under 20’s pulled off the major
achievement of reaching the SFA
Youth Cup final at Hampden Park.
They went down 3-1 to an all
conquering Celtic side, but earned
many plaudits in the process.
A busy season in the AFYFC drew
to a close. Division One Winners
were Balgonie Scotia and Division
Two Winners, Kennoway United.
The cups were spread across five
different winners - Balgonie Scotia,
St Johns, Kelty Marian Colts, Rosyth
United and Cairneyhill United. At
the Under 17 age group Glenrothes
Strollers won the top flight and
Divison 2 went to Fair City of Perth.
Woodside, Dalbeath Colts, Elgin Star
and Fair City all lifted cups. Lastly,
at Under 19 level Aberdour won
Division 1, Auchtermuchty Bellevue
won Division 2 and the cups were
lifted by Eastvale (2), Inverkeithing
Hillfield Swifts Blue, St Johns and
Kirkcaldy YM.
May was full of sunny Cup finals in
the DDYFA, the first being the under
14’s J. Duffy Cup final which was
won by Dryburgh who beat Tayport
Thistle 6-1. Tyler Martin scored a
fantastic 4 goals in an absolutely
perfect performance. The G. Kerr
under 19’s cup was a close game
in which Celtic Boys won 7-6 on
penalties against Letham Tangerines.
Next was the under 13’s Ross
Ballantine Cup, Dundee West
beat Arbroath 4-1 in a wonderful
performance. Robbie Fleming
grabbed a hat-trick in a brilliant
performance up front. Fairmuir
overcame a strong Dundee Villa
side to clinch the under 16’s Queen’s
Jubilee Cup by winning 2-0. Dryburgh
under 16’s came out on top against St.
Murdoch’s after a fiercely contested
and entertaining cup final in which
they won 4-3. Arbroath also defeated
the league champions DUSC 2-1 and
took the Jean Pierre Babin Cup.
JUNE
The East Region revelled in the glory
of one of their sides being crowned
national champions. Woodmill
High School U15 Girls crowned a
memorable season with victory over
Lasswade in the Scottish Schools
FA Shield final. The 4-1 victory was
inspired by a captain’s performance
from Shannon MacNamara and a
double from Megen Reilly.
The Fife Football Development
League drew to a close. Under 13’s
Fair Play winners were Aberdour SDC
and Kinross Colts. At Under 14 level
Burntisland Shipyard and Kirkcaldy
Hearts won league titles, whereas St
John’s Lions and Kirkclady Eagles took
cup glory. The last age group, Under
15’s, saw St Johns and Dalbeath Colts
crowned league champions, whereas
Kelty Marian Colts took the Fife Cup.
Also coming to an end was the Perth
& Kinross Youth FA season. Scone
Thistle were crowned champions at
Under 13 level, whereas Jeanfield
Swifts enjoyed an Under 14 and
Under 16 double.
