STAFF WELLBEING
This year staff members concluded a long-term series of workshops to help them better cope with life ’ s ups and downs , while gaining communication and leadership skills . Coaching and wellbeing practitioner Andy Roberts , from Breathe Australia , delivered the course across several sessions , covering mindfulness to combat stress and anxiety , interpersonal skills , emotional intelligence , and developing mental resilience .
World Soil Day morning tea — Staff celebrated World Soil Day 2021 with a morning tea at the Townsville Office . Soil Conservation Officer Bernie Claussen put soil under a microscope and spoke to colleagues about the complex underground world we don ’ t usually see . Staff also baked some specially-themed cakes !
There were also plenty of opportunities for staff members to take a break from their hectic work schedules and socialise at a variety of gatherings , including :
Breakfast with the Board — The NQ Dry Tropics Board is responsible for setting the company ’ s strategic direction , and ensuring financial viability . Board members don ’ t often have a chance to socialise with staff and show appreciation for their efforts , but they were able to do just that over a tasty breakfast .
