At the same time as the Cadet dinghy was getting under way the Comminee were looking at another one-design class that was doing well in America . On 22 April 1920 the Secretary was instructed to write to Messrs Gardner & Corry of America , thanking them for all they had done for Mr Roche and infonning them that the club was going very thoroughly into the possibilities of the suitability of the Star class for Sydney Harbour . It would appear that they ! bought them unsuitable as nothing seems to have happened nntil ! heir introduction to the Piuwater . Nothing appears in ! he records or minutes and it is possible Ibey did appear on the Harbour priorto the Pinwater as one was on the Derwen ~ built in about 1930 for Harry Roberts , a member of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania . later sold 10 Melbourne and renamed Viola . There is one minute of 13 March 1924 which records ! hat Mr Curtis was interviewed by Mr Walker with reference to ! he club putting on races for any yacht of this class that may be built in Sydney .
After World War I ! he members ' time and effort bad gone into the design and introduction of two most successful classes ; the 21-ft rescricted class and the 12-ft Cadet dinghy . But these were pure racing classes and the members still wanted a one-design class which they could both race and cruise .
