The Culwulla Trophy was presented to the club by Walter Marks in 1890 for the Cruiser c ) ass . In 1925 it was raced for in the Prince class . It was won ouuight by Wsller Marks in 1898 .
The first Prince class yacl11 to be built was launched in
December 1925 . Built 10 the onlcr of the E . P . Andreas , h was the second
boat built in Australia by

The Committee went back to work and developed the Prince class . This boat was a raised deck type . 28 ft LOA , with a slightly cut-away stern and a sloping transom stem . The Comminee burnt the candle weU into the night woddog on the introduction of this vessel but it was tO be of no avail .
A monthly meeting of n1 ¢ mbers , held on 22 January 1925 , submiued plans of boats 25 fl overall and 28 fl overn . 11 , and thedemils of lbese plans were explained by H . Andreas and A . C . Barber who had prepared the plans . Mr Andreas slated that tenders had been received for £ 245 forthreeboats25 ft overJll , und for £ 267forfour boats28 ft overall . He offcrcd to build a bout as an experimenL Lt was resolved that ' the club adopt the 28 ft one-design cruiser class '. It was also resolved that ' the class be known as the Prince class and that each boat name should be prefhed with the won ! " Prince- : At a meeting held on 25 June 1925 Mr Andreas reported :
Due to the original builder being unable to proceed with the order placed with him within reas · onablc time . he had withdrawn the order and placed one with Lars Halvorsen to build a boat of this class to cost £ 365 without sails , otherwise complete , that i $ hull , spars and rigging .
