As soon as five Dragons are in the water the club will set op a Dragon Division on the Harbour . Jn the meanrime rhose Dragons rhac are in the wa1er will sai I with Division No . 3 , all off the same mark .
The first Dragon builr would appear co be Platypus , Sail No . DKA l , built by Sa ,• age in Melbourne for K . C . K . Dalton , and launched in 1951 .
The club al Green Point was not in a position 10 handle a Oeet of Dragons a1 chat time and Mr Dallon established a facility for them in a shed near where Williams Marina now srands . The Dragons were moored off that area . Larer their headquarters were moved to a shed further into Bayview . This was the newly fonned Bayview Yacht Racing Association who introduced Starboats which were slung out of Uie water and kept near Williams Marina .

The yacht race that estab · lished the Bayview Yacht Racing Association was held in L949 . It was a ' grudge ' match between two good friends , K . C . K . Dalton and Cedric WiJ . Iiams . There were cwo yachts involved : Christina Oeft ). a double-ended sloop owned by John Snow and helmed by Cedric Williams , and Owe11 Davern ( above ) a yawl owned and skippered by K . C . K . Dalwn . The race around Lion Island and return was woo by
Christina by two hours a11d ten minutes . From this race K . C . K . Dalton established the BYRA with Miss M . R . Cullen as the first Honorary Secretary .
Sailed in the first week of November each year , this race is still popular on die BYRA race program , all other races being for centreboard classes .
