QiGong
Instructor: Cheri Maffei-Wolff K. C. Mind Body Studio • Ages 18 + 4 week session
Qigong( pronounced chi-gong) was developed in China centuries ago. Qigong exercises gather and circulate qi and blood, regulate the nervous system, promote relaxation and tranquility, and optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit.
We will explore 18 qigong movement-patterns to invigorate and bring awareness to our systems. The practices of Tai Chi and Qigong are both designed to help relax the body and mind, and to aid in overall balance and to nurture internal energy, but they are not exactly the same. Tai Chi consists of a specific sequence of slow movements to promote balance, power, and efficiency with emphasis on structure and internal adjustments. Qigong consists of breath practices, and flowing body movements. This Shibashi Qigong practice is a very good option for those with any mobility issues as each movement is performed while standing in place.
Dress comfortably with loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes with minimal tread( ex. Keds, Vans, Sperry’ s) to prevent sticking.
