NEW MUSIC NOW HEAR THIS | Gerod Bass COREY VOSS & MADISON STREET WORSHIP Heaven Come Closer which Voss, co-wrote with Matt Redman, Joshua Silverberg and Jason Scooter. This worship opener is a wonderful musical journey describing where our hearts should be as we venture to meet Jesus during our times of worship. Interestingly enough, “Let there Be Wonder” is also the title cut of Redman’s latest release. VENTURE3 MEDIA Simple Hymns-Songs of Refuge 1. Dancing On The Grave 2. Highest Praise (Feat. God Of Salvation (I Still Believe) [Feat. Baily Hager] 9. Let It All Go 10. Let It All Go (Reprise) 11. Solid Rock (Hell Or High Water) [Feat. Olivia Calderwood Bush] 12. Heaven Come Closer (Feat. Jenna Bataller) Corey Voss began leading worship at Gateway Church in Shelbyville eight years ago for an intimate group of 65 or so worshipers. Since then the little town in Tennessee has seen an incredible revival in Jesus with Gateway swelling to more than 1,000 members a week and Voss’ song writing and worship collective have played a major role in reaching people for Jesus. His third full length release, Heaven Come Closer is a step up both in writing and delivery of genuine, heartfelt worship compared to his first two albums. Most familiar among this group of 10 songs (plus two reprisals) is “Let there Be Wonder” “Miracle in Motion” is a sublime and intimate call for Jesus to work within His people right where we are while reminding us that He still moves mountains and performs signs of His wonder among us. Utilizing the chorus of the hymn “My Hope is Built,” the Olivia Calderwood Bush-led “Solid Rock (Hell or High Water)” is a gorgeous affirmation of the faithfulness of Jesus, sung with raw emotion and vulnerability. Harely Rowell’s full and silky tenor takes over the leadership in what is my favorite song not just of the album but maybe of 2020 so far. The hope filled “Look What God Has Done” powerfully reminds us that God is always present and has been more than enough through fire, flood, sadness and despair throughout history and remains the same for us today. The bridge is powerful and declarative as Rowell proclaims; “There is no name that’s greater, greater, the One who saves, He reigns forever, Jesus.” This is such an important song for the body of Christ to be singing at this moment in the midst of fear and uncertainty. Voss has certainly matured both as a songwriter, performer and leader and it speaks volumes on this record. Even though I would have appreciated a musical break amongst the far-to-many power ballads on this collection, I appreciated the female leadership of Voss’ team which gave the album many different musical layers to enjoy. There are some really great songs I can’t wait to teach my congregation when we all get back together for corporate worship. 1. The God of The Sea And Stars 2. He Is Our Refuge 3. I Have a Shelter 4. Set My Eyes On You 5. Love, You Never Let Me Go 6. Jesus, Lover Of My Soul 7. It Is Well 8. Savior, Like A Shepherd Lead Us (Blessed Jesus) 9. All I Have Is Christ 10. In Feast Or Fallow Venture3 Media continues its Simple Hymns series with their latest offering in this multialbum release of Simple Hymns: Songs of Refuge which is a creative mix of newly written modern hymns mixed with some well-known favorites.
