worship school . Most of the audience were the worship school students . And it was just the second week of the school . So , we had all been pouring into them . It felt like a big family in the room versus an audience .
[ WM ] Cory , your new song “ Homecoming ”, paints a beautiful picture of heaven . It ’ s the title song for this new16-song release , Homecoming . I must confess that the bridge and spontaneous section got to me . Please tell us about this song .
“ I see bright crimson robes draped over the ashes A wide-open tomb where there should be a casket The children are singing and dancing and laughing The Father is welcoming , this is our homecoming
Roses in bloom pushed up from the embers Rivers of tears flow from good times remembered Families are singing and dancing and laughing
The Father is welcoming , this is our homecoming

And I was thinking of His , Jesus ’ s robes , there metaphorically still stained with His blood , right ? That washes us . And He ' s just draping those robes over all the ashes , over all the junk , over all the mess , the death , the whatever it is . And the blood of Jesus is just being draped over all that stuff . I don ' t know . It just , it felt right as we started singing it and I was like , man , there ' s something to this . What ' s the rest of the song ? We had no idea . We had that bridge , and that was kind of it . And then I jumped into that verse , Lord I confess , I ' ve been a criminal , I ' ve stolen your breath , but I sang my own song .
