I know it ’ s so cliche , but it ’ s just true . There ’ s nothing else . I don ’ t know how else to put it . It ’ s just that nothing else matters when he ’ s in the room .
[ WM ] That ’ s right . Nothing else matters . His presence is critically important . It ’ s not just about singing songs together , although that can be fun . There ’ s another other dimension to press towards .
[ Josh ] There is . And I feel like , “ Man , if we come together on Sundays to worship together and we miss out on the opportunity to have the presence of the Lord there …”
[ WM ] Well , so a little less weighty . That ’ s good . Switching gears here . What ’ s your acoustic guitar of choice ?
[ Josh ] It ’ s my Martin HD-28 . I ’ ve had it for a little over a year , I think maybe two years . I love this guitar . Once I got this guitar , I just kind of put all the other ones away . They ’ re all just hanging and all the ones hanging downstairs . This one ’ s the one . It was like , okay , this is it . This is my baby now . But it ’ s just so full . The guitar I played for years before that was a OM-21 , Martin , and I loved it because it ’ s the center body and just smaller , what is it , the triple OOO ? Those smaller series of Martins that I love that they cut through and kind of like fit in the mix well with a band . But then I started doing so much solo or acoustic kind of stuff that I just needed something a little beefier . And I love Martins . I wasn ’ t always a big Martin guy , but then I got one and I was like , “ Okay , well yeah !” I think they ’ re the best . Or just the most solid for a mass manufactured kind of guitar . So , I got this HD-28 , and I thought I would only be playing it on acoustic kind of shows when I didn ’ t have a band . But it feels great with a band .
[ WM ] So I wanted to ask you , what songwriters have you admired the most , either church or mainstream ? You already mentioned Tom Petty and Johnny Cash .
