[ Josh ] I think for mainstream , Tom Petty is my favorite . I love how he felt creative in the way he said things , not overthinking it and being just very melodic . He sang and wrote very singable songs , I felt like he had the depth of Bob Dylan in a lot of ways . But his melodies and the way he sang things were just so catchy and great . I love him . And then growing up , I was a massive Stephen Curtis Chapman fan , and he was one of the reasons I really wanted to play acoustic guitar and I loved him . And then when Delirious ? came around , and Martin Smith , that was when I really started to shift over to just the leading worship side and just writing . I felt like he was writing songs that were very worshipful and the church could sing . But they were different , especially back then from what we were singing in church . Just these were such personal worship songs that you could still grab on as a church and sing . There just wasn ’ t anything like that back then . And that ’ s really who shaped who I was and who I wanted to be .
[ WM ] I have to ask , coming from North Carolina , do you ever do James Taylor ’ s “ Carolina On my Mind ”? You have a great voice for it .
[ Josh ] Oh , thank you . You know what ? I haven ’ t actually , and I grew up loving him . I think the first thing I heard of him , or I had of him was his greatest hits CD . And I wore that thing out , but I ’ ve never done it live or anything . I need to do that .
[ WM ] Josh , it ’ s been just great visiting with you . Thank you for this time .
[ Josh ] Alright , thank you so much . God bless .
