how houses of worship and musicians make up such a massive group of people; musicians who play live music week in and week out. And so, it was amazing meeting so many musicians who were there who were a part of churches and come from churches. And that feels obvious when you say it, but I just had never thought about that. All these companies really love worship because a lot of their customers are worship leaders and worship musicians. It was really, cool. It felt like we got to lead a lot of those people, but then also a lot of people who had no idea what was going on were just walking by and like,“ Wait, something’ s different about what they’ re singing rather than the last band I heard.”
And we literally had a woman during rehearsal who walked up during rehearsal, she had a beer in her hand, and she was singing and crying her eyes out in the presence of God.
That was just in rehearsal. I’ m like, wait, something’ s about to happen. So, it felt like a really, God-appointed time that I was super honored to be a part of and was special.
[ WM ] Okay. So let me ask this one. How would you like to see the new songs impact the church?
[ Natalie ] It’ s funny because I have this running question in my head all the time of what, especially even in my own artistry, are you contributing something that’ s just adding to a very noisy glut of things? Or are you contributing something that God’ s asking you to contribute or are you contributing something and you’ re asking God,“ Please bless what I’ m contributing.” Do you see what I’ m saying? And I really feel like these were songs that God breathed on, not because I had this huge hand in writing them. I feel like I almost have a cool place to say it because I’ m not the person who wrote these songs so I can be on the outside saying,“ I’ ve heard these songs, I’ ve seen how they’ ve ministered to my life, but I feel like they are theologically rich.” They are not rooted in a me-centered type of theology,
