which I think a lot of our worship in the Big C church can sometimes be, or oversimplified, or there’ s these beautiful things to them and yet they’ re so singable. I think that that was something for me was I feel like more than ever these songs are songs that anybody can grab ahold of and they’ re singing scripture, they’ re singing the word, they’ re singing these scriptural theological concepts. And I believe that you’ re singing certain songs that can shift the atmosphere of a moment. You sing the word, midst. When you’ re asking God to be right here in our midst and fire all-consuming in our midst, you’ re putting a declaration into the atmosphere that actually can shift the entire atmosphere there. I’ ve always felt that way about The Belonging Co songs, but I kind of feel like we’ ve hit a sweet spot in this one more than any other one in the fact that it’ s not just songs for our church that other people like listening to. I feel like the songs that are coming out of our church are songs for any church, if that makes sense.
[ WM ] Wonderful! So let me finish up. Shoot out two or three songs that we didn’ t talk about that you would like to call attention to.
[ Andrew ] Yeah. Well, Natalie mentioned it briefly, but there’ s a song called“ Midst” that I got to lead on the record that has been really cool. We’ ve already seen a lot of churches leading that song. It was the first single we put out from the project, and it really is, I feel like just a recognition because I think a lot of times we sing songs about come Holy Spirit, come into our midst. This song is more of a recognition of we are here and that means that he is here. So really what the thing is, is we need to recognize that rather than invite him to come, he’ s already here. Sometimes you need to remind your soul and your spirit. The very presence of the living God is here in our midst and that means that nothing is impossible and that he can do something like only he can do right now.
And so that’ s really that song and it’ s been amazing. Another song that I think we’ ve already seen a lot of churches responding to is a song called“ He Shall Be Praised”, that a guy named David Dennis leads on the album. It’ s a praise song, a dance song, kind of a song one in your set where you just get the whole congregation involved. I mean, we literally in the bridge say,“ Everybody clap your hands, everybody move your feet.” And it’ s like one of those kind of songs, and it’ s been awesome to see that song already resonating with people. And I think that’ s a real mark of our church is we love to praise the Lord. We love to have energy and to dance before the Lord and to sing songs that kind of pull your attention up to him. I think we all as worship leaders need those songs.
That song one is not just a warmup to get people in with their coffees, but it’ s actually a moment of going like,“ Whatever you’ re walking through right now, lift up your head and recognize that there is someone who’ s far greater than you, Who’ s way above your problems and your situation, even though those things are very real. There’ s someone and a God who’ s above that and he’ s here and we get to worship him today.” And so, I think we’ ve really become a place I hope and pray for worship leaders and worship teams to come to find those songs. And so that’ s an amazing one that I feel like churches are really going to love and grab ahold of.
[ WM ] That’ s right. It’ s the presence of God that makes everything okay whether He heals us or not. It’ s the presence of God that changes everything. Church and worship can change our behavior, but it takes the Lord to change our character. And so, that comes through time. My prayer is that these songs will impact the church to the extent that characters are changed and the church becomes kingdomminded people.
[ Andrew ] It’ s good. So good.
[ WM ] I will definitely pray for this project. I know it just came out. God bless you both and thank you so much for this time.
