it might make Him even more proud of us . And the truth is , our sacrifices , our offerings to God are like filthy rags . There ' s nothing that we could give Him that He is truly worthy of and that would equate to the level of His greatness and His worthiness . And so , I think it ' s just a reminder to break off that religious mindset and just sing Him your song . Lift up a hallelujah , because with lifted hands and you singing out , that is the most precious gift I believe that we could give Him , besides just our faith in general . And I believe that it ' s His favorite sound . It ' s His favorite song , is the one that is an honest song . Realizing there ' s nothing I could bring this King that he ' s truly worthy of , other than my lifted hands , and the surrender of my voice .
And then the bridge . This feels like an iconic Brandon Lake bridge . This is where I ' m like , " Okay , we got to get a little more aggressive than that . We got to take it to another level ." And it reminds me of David and the Psalms when he says , " Bless the Lord , oh my soul ," and he ' s commanding his soul to bless God . Because there ' s an opportunity when we feel like worshiping to worship , but there ' s also an invitation when we don ' t feel like it , to still worship .
Something beautiful happens when we choose , despite our situation , when we command our souls to bless God and to worship God , even in the face of that impossibility or whatever it is . And so that bridge is kind of like a , " Hey , soul . Wake up . You ' ve got more to give to God . You ' ve got more to offer than you think you do , and you ' ve got a bigger sound to release ." And so , it ' s a challenge to wake up that lion inside of your lungs , to give God praise . me better , and it makes us better . Every time I rub shoulders with someone outside of my world , especially with those who have been given an opportunity to have a global ministry , it ’ s to show what the church really does look like . And it doesn ' t just look like me , and it doesn ' t just look like you .
And so one of the beautiful things about Maverick City , and Bethel , and Elevation , and beyond coming together is that it ' s a better depiction of what the Kingdom of God really looks like . It ' s full of diversity , and it ' s full of different expressions , and it ' s full of different sound . And I want that to be on display for the world to see , that the kingdom sound is a unified sound , but not where everyone sounds the same , but we ' re going after the same thing .
And every time I ' ve rubbed shoulders with someone outside my world , it ' s made me better . It ' s made me a better follower of Christ . It ' s also made me a better worship leader . It ' s made me a better songwriter . It ' s like that proverb , " As iron sharpens iron , one man sharpens another ."
And that ' s what I see happening , and the bride of Christ becomes more beautiful when we come together . And I think that not only does it make me better , but it makes us better . And I think the most beautiful thing too is that when there ' s a real diverse expression represented , everybody in the room , or everybody watching can find their self , inside that , and it gives them permission to join in and be a part .
[ WM ] That ' s beautiful ! Thank you so much for this time . God be with your songwriting and worship leading efforts .
[ WM ] Brandon , you minister alongside multiple ministries including your home church , Bethel Music and Maverick City collectives . I believe there are many streams that flow into and become one river . What do you have to say about ministering with others outside of your walls ?
[ Brandon ] No , thank you .
[ Brandon ] Absolutely . I would say it makes
