[ WM ] How did you get started at the church and how did it come about that now you are the full-time Technical Director ?
[ Keith ] Well , bit of an interesting story – for another time , perhaps – but essentially , I have a friend who is the Worship Pastor at another church who notified me that CCC was “ looking for someone who does what [ I ] do ”, so I polished up my resume and made the phone call . From there out the rest was just a real God story and a great fit .
[ WM ] That is amazing ! We see your main console is an Allen & Heath iLive T112 . Tell us about that board and how you are implementing Dante there ?
[ Keith ] This is my first experience with the A & H ecosystem and so far it has been pretty enjoyable . I really like all the features it offers as well as the intuitive workflow it affords . We like to affectionately dub it our “ Millenium Falcon ”, which in part explains the side screen monitor that helps when the main screen takes the occasional coffee break during a service for anywhere from 10-20 minutes at a time .
The Dante integration runs twofold :
Inputs – From what I was told when I came on , it was initially implemented to help clean up some of our audio . We run the entire drum kit off it , as well as a few other key channels , and apparently prior to , I seem to remember hearing there was some crosstalk between channels , or something to that effect , so it alleviated that issue , as well as offered some expansion in channel count .
Outputs – We also run a backline of ME-U / ME-1 IEM Units by A & H through the Dante system , as well as a frontline of Sennheiser ew300 wireless IEM units .
[ WM ] Lighting is important to the service presentation . I got a kick out of seeing that you have an old Hazer and a fan for special occasions . How many moving lights do you have ?
