Many people in countries such as Canada do not know what the true meaning of hunger and starvation is because in the old core there are outlets to get food like restaurants and grocery stores but not everyone is that fortunate. There are four types of hunger, famine which is a short term food loos which could be caused by war drought, environmental problems and then there’s starvation which is extreme hunger that happens over long periods of time. There is malnutrition which is mostly seen in far periphery countries, it is a medical condition of poor health caused by not getting enough nutrients into the body. This happens mostly in the far periphery because those countries have high populations which means more people to feed and they have the least amount of money to do so. Then there is chronic hunger which happens because of an insecure lack of food. Chronic hunger kills indirectly but cause high infant mortality rates and poor economic growth.
The Green Revoltuion
The Green Revolution started in 1943 and was made to ensure Mexico was getting enough food supply to their country. This revolution was started to grow many different kinds of wheat to feed the continuously growing population. There were many successes found with the green revolution such as its prevention of famine after World War 2, the green revolution reduced food supply problems and gave hope for agriculture to be able to flourish with no difficulties. But just as there were positives to the green revolution there were also some down falls. Food became more costly because of all the chemicals being put into them and most farmers could not afford that.
the chemicals being put into them and most farmers could not afford that. There as also a loss of genetic diversity because only foods that could be grown for an excessive amount of people would be grown so many crops were not grown at this time.
