“ hey, heard you
were up all night,
thinking about
how your world
ain ' t right and
you wonder if
things will ever
get better....”
I ' ll never forget the first time God spoke to me through a song on the radio. It was the end of 2011 and I was in our bedroom cleaning when Mandisa ' s " Stronger " started to play. I ' d heard the song a million times, but this particular time, I knew that the song was for me. My husband and I had been through a rough year financially, and things just seemed to be going downhill. I always try to stay positive but I ' m human and sometimes I fall apart. All I could think about was how we were going to take care of our son if we can ' t take care of ourselves? I remember hearing the lyrics, " hey, heard you were up all night, thinking about how your world ain ' t right and you wonder if things will ever get better...." I stopped in my tracks because I just knew God was talking to me. As the song progressed, the words flowed through the speakers and I dropped to my knees as the following lyrics were sung. " Try and do the best you can, Hold on and let Him hold your hand, And go on and fall into the arms of Jesus, Oh, lift your head it ' s gonna end, God ' s right there, Even when you just can ' t feel Him, I promise you that He still cares " By
now my head was down, eyes were closed, and my hands were raised in the air and I swear I could feel Jesus ' hands on mine. The overwhelming peace that came over me was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I knew right then in that moment that things were going to be ok. Things are still a little rough, but they aren ' t as bad as they could be. God has never let me down and I don ' t expect Him to start now. Remember that when you are going through your worst times, God isn ' t picking on you, he is only trying to make you stronger. Until next time... God bless. Jen
