“ hey , heard you
were up all night ,
thinking about
how your world
ain ' t right and
you wonder if
things will ever
get better ....”
I ' ll never forget the first time God spoke to me through a song on the radio . It was the end of 2011 and I was in our bedroom cleaning when Mandisa ' s " Stronger " started to play . I ' d heard the song a million times , but this particular time , I knew that the song was for me . My husband and I had been through a rough year financially , and things just seemed to be going downhill . I always try to stay positive but I ' m human and sometimes I fall apart . All I could think about was how we were going to take care of our son if we can ' t take care of ourselves ? I remember hearing the lyrics , " hey , heard you were up all night , thinking about how your world ain ' t right and you wonder if things will ever get better ...." I stopped in my tracks because I just knew God was talking to me . As the song progressed , the words flowed through the speakers and I dropped to my knees as the following lyrics were sung . " Try and do the best you can , Hold on and let Him hold your hand , And go on and fall into the arms of Jesus , Oh , lift your head it ' s gonna end , God ' s right there , Even when you just can ' t feel Him , I promise you that He still cares " By
now my head was down , eyes were closed , and my hands were raised in the air and I swear I could feel Jesus ' hands on mine . The overwhelming peace that came over me was unlike anything I had ever experienced before . I knew right then in that moment that things were going to be ok . Things are still a little rough , but they aren ' t as bad as they could be . God has never let me down and I don ' t expect Him to start now . Remember that when you are going through your worst times , God isn ' t picking on you , he is only trying to make you stronger . Until next time ... God bless . Jen
