Wilfred Edward Salter Owen (18 March 1893 – 4
November 1918) was an English poet and soldier, one of
the leading poets of WW1. His shocking, realistic war
poetry on the horrors of trenches and gas warfare. He
was killed in action during the crossing of the SambreOise Canal. He suffered shell-shock and died two weeks
before the end of the war. He was 25 years old
