In fourth grade we have been working on grammar and sentence structure a lot. We have especially been practicing with the question words Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why. In order to develop these ideas we have a workshop that forces children to ask questions in order to find out the specific answer to questions.
This activity involved the children
receiving a specific Noun on a piece of tape stuck to the back of their sweaters.This Noun could be a Person, Place or a Thing. The children could not see it but all of the other children in the class could.The children would have to walk around and ask one question to every other child in the class pertaining to the noun that was stuck on their back. They have to use their WH- question words to find out who or what they were.
