by the new Evolution Acoustics V1 studio monitors. They are truly natural, transparent, and you could say holographic. They are an investment but worth it.
For a great low-cost monitor, I love the KRK Kreate. They’ re surprisingly smooth and can get loud without getting crunchy. Of course I have the classic Yamaha NS-10’ s. Auratones, and vintage Fostex 780’ s. The Fostex 780s were tried and true, and my mentor taught me to use them.
Do your mix in ATMOS, surround sound etc.? I’ m set up for ATMOS but not using it yet.
Do you use a subwoofer? I’ ve got a subwoofer; I can turn it on depending on if I’ m mixing or want to impress a client.
Brand / types of plugins? I’ ve got close to 100 plug-ins. Slate, Universal
Audio, Waves, and lots of specialized ones. Pro Tools comes with a bunch too.
Do you master your music for iTunes, Spotify, etc.? Different combinations. For commercial mastering, I will use Bob Boyd here in Houston. For my Mix bus, on budget projects, I use different plugins and external analog Universal Audio OX Reactive Amp Attenuator with Speaker Modeling
Two Notes Torpedo Captor X + Load Box compressors. For in-the-box, I sometimes use a combo of Sound Theory Gulfoss, Oeksound Soothe2, UAD Pultec-EQP-1A and Waves L2 Ultramaximizer Limiter.
What guitar sim plug-ins do you use? My favorite guitar sim plug-in is Neural DSP Archetype John Mayer.
External amps / Multi-effect processors? I’ m not currently using external multi-effect processors. I do have a UAD Ruby’ 63 Top Boost on my Lakewood Church board and a UAD Enigmatic‘ 82 Overdrive Special on my fly board. For the studio, I use real amps mostly.
Do you record guitar amps direct via attenuators( Two Notes, Fryette, Suhr etc.).? I do love the UA OX Amp Top Box on my Fender Deluxe. It likes that amp the best. I’ ve also got a Two Notes Torpedo Captor X + that can float to one of the other amps.
