My friend, Ethan Byrd, plays lead for my son at First Baptist Westlake, Louisiana. Ethan played the T59 this past Sunday, and I asked him for his thoughts...“ The first thing I noticed was how nice the case was and the attention to detail in the finish of the guitar. The hardware and finish are aged but in a very pleasing way. I got to strum on a T59 at Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville this past summer. I didn’ t get to plug in the Eastman I played in Nashville, but it sounded good acoustically and felt great. I was trying to convince myself to get a larger guitar, but all the ones I played had a very thick and flat neck that I couldn’ t get past. Getting to play through my board just confirmed that it sounded just as good amplified. I would tend to reach for this guitar for more acoustic sets. The sustain and tone I can get from it makes it easy to fill space. It’ s a good compliment to my telecaster. I don’ t get scheduled to play rhythm guitar very much, but I think this would be my go-to instrument. The weight distribution is very good; I was surprised how light the body felt, but overall, the guitar was very balanced and sits comfortably standing or sitting. The neck is comfortable and easy to get around on; it’ s flatter than my telecaster, but not in an awkward or uncomfortable way. The pickups sound great and gave me a lot of options as far as tone goes; the guitar sustains for what seems like an hour, which is a big help when playing swells or more ambient parts”.
