EASTMAN T59 / TV SEMI-HOLLOW BODY THINLINE ELECTRIC GUITAR | Mitch Bohanon
Eastman. You ever played one? I recently got back from NAMM and I’ ve been watching a lot of coverage online. People post their opinions of gear, guitars, and the grind of wading through the crowds. I can’ t tell you how many videos I watched of folks making a B-line to the Eastman / Bourgeois booth. Many of those folks ranking the guitars as some of the very best in the building. I’ ve strummed an Eastman several times in the busyness of NAMM, but never at home... that is until today.
Out of the box, simply sweetness. The hardshell case is premium, unique, almost like a velvet exterior with a super-plush interior. I enjoy natural wood over painted guitars and this T59 / TV with deluxe flamed maple laminate top, back, and sides is exquisite. 22 medium jumbo frets with a maple, C-shaped neck and ebony fingerboard. Full-body, ivoroid binding, and pearl split block inlay define this dreamof-a-guitar. Two Seymour Duncan Antiquity Humbucker pickups, a 3-way switch, and Gotoh SD90 Relic tuners top it off.
The semi-hollow body guitar is like the best of both worlds, blending the warm“ open” acoustic tones of a hollow body with the added feedback resistance, note sustain, and control of a solid body. Rock, blues, country... everything we play in worship, this guitar is ready for some rounds. This one had zero adjustments needed. First time out of the case and tuned up, the action was low and fast, intonation was spot on, and sound / playability was... and is amazing.
