TRI-4-LIFE 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY GREAT GLEN SWIM CHALLENGE 2020
Bank holiday weekend was the start of the tri-4-Life team ’ s amazing Celebration of their 20th Anniversary by swimming 48 miles over three days by completing the Great Glen Swim Challenge .
Arriving in Corpach with just one hour to prepare for the high tide on Loch Linnhe and the six hour , 10 mile swim from Caol beach to Corran Lighthouse .
On day two the team swam Loch Lochy 10 miles & Loch Oich 5 miles , From Gairlochy northward , against a light northerly .
On day three , it was a 23mile swim of Loch Ness starting at Cherry Island with mist and very light airs , northward until abeam Foyers , across the loch , then along the east shore to Dores .
Liam Hanlon , Director of tri-4-life . said : ‘ These amazing challenges have brought together an extra-ordinary group of friends for the past twenty years doing great things for great causes like Liverpool Heartbeat , Maggie ’ s , Stick N ’ Step and the Paul Lavelle Foundation ’.
Scottish West Coast Cruises supported the team on board the Lady Sofrida . The converted 16m ring net herring fishing boat , is now an adventure cruiser and charitable social enterprise , to promote mental well-being , including addictive behaviour recovery , in the Highlands and Islands .
