Landmarks of National Pride :
In Delhi , there are various places to visit that are associated with Delhi ’ s history and the government . To begin with , you must at least see the Rashtrapati Bhavan , because it is the president ’ s house . To clear things up rashtrapati means president and bhavan means house , so when you put them together it makes the words rashtrapati bhavan pronunciation :( rash-tra-pati bh-uh-vun ). I will say that the India Gate is a site definitely worth a visit , but it ’ s heavily overrated . The history behind the India Gate is World War One , when the First World War ended the British built this monument to honor the British martyr soldiers who died in World War One . Visit the Red Fort , you can ’ t miss it , you will regret it if you don ’ t go there . The Red Fort in english and called laal qila in Hindi is a fort made of red stone ( redstone is expensive !) and white marble , it is famous due to the Mughal kings who resided in the fort . The Red Fort was home to the infamous king Shah Jahan , briefing for those who don ’ t know Shah Jahan : He was the king who built the Taj Mahal for his wife . Lastly , visit Humayun ’ s tomb in Delhi . Humayun ’ s tomb is a king ’ s tomb that was built between 1565 and
1572 , it was commissioned by his wife to be built , and even the president ’ s house that you now know took inspiration from Humayun ’ s tomb , Evidence : According to Britannica it states “ English architect and planner of New Delhi , re-created a similar design around what is now the Rashtrapati Bhavan ”.
Conclusion :
Overall Delhi is a huge mix of culture , government , and colonialism which is one to be relished and discovered . When I think of a city rich in history I genuinely think of Delhi . If Delhi is not on your bucket list you have made some mistakes regarding your choices .
