Bob agrees and adds that it ’ s a cultural matter . Bock beers for example are special for the autumn , a strong lager of German origin . “ My dad hates the winter and the fall , but he always says there ’ s one good thing about the fall – bock beer is finally here .” Later in the winter we start drinking more porter and stout beers . Porter is more malty than hoppy , with flavors like bittersweet chocolate , caramel , or toffee . Stouts were traditionally the generic term for the strongest or stoutest porters . A good example for a porter which we all know is Guinness Beer . Generally speaking , while the temperature drops , the alcohol percentage rises and fits a more casual slow sitting , with a more complex taste . “ We don ’ t get to go out too much or hang out with large groups of people in the winter . Things are closer and more isolated , and you want to experience alcohol in a more intimate way . There ’ s also an illusion about drinks that make you warmer , but it is more about association . Corona beer or a pilsner for instance you typically drink on a terrace in the summer . While in the winter you would go inside and order a heavier and slower stout beer , so you get warmer . It ’ s about the memories we collect .”
