5 Founded In Faith, Growing In Grace On February 23, 2014, Great Bridge Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary. In honor of the occasion, John Dixon is composing a Hymn Concertato on “Come Sing, O Church, in Joy!” that will be premiered in the morning worship service. The celebratory morning worship services will include participation by previous ministers in addition to the Mayor of Chesapeake, Alan P. Krasnoff. There will be reception between morning worship services to honor current and former members. February 23, 2014, 4:00 p.m. “Founded on Faith” 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert featuring the Chancel Choir and music ministry of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church. The esteemed Chancel choir of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church will anchor this afternoon concert with brass, the Alleluia Ringers, Harmonious Flutes, and participation from various aspects of the music ministry of the church. Founded in 1964, Great Bridge Presbyterian celebrates a distinguished history of serving and providing outreach programs to the community, the nation and the world. The Chancel choir, under the direction of Billye Brown Youmans has successfully completed two international tours and their annual Festival of Lessons and Carols is a much anticipated community event. The concert will also include participation by the Praise Team under the direction of Charity Stephens. Rodger Nishioka, Guest Preacher Rodger Nishioka holds the Benton Family chair in Christian education as an associate professor at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.
