SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS

SMART DRIVING
Approved course of two sessions totaling eight hours. Class is
offered during the last Wednesday and Friday of every month,
12-4 pm.
WHO: Open to adults 55+
FEE: $15 for AARP Members; $20 for nonmembers
WINTER DATES: January 29 & 31, February 26 & 28,
March 25 & 27

RULES OF THE ROAD
Approved course to assist with the written test for renewing
your Driver’s License. There is no fee, but registration is
mandatory.
WHO: Open to adults 55+
DATES: February 19 • 1-3 pm
REGISTER: At the East Wing (It is not necessary to wait for your
renewal letter to go to the test center to renew your license.)
Located in the east wing of Park Center, the
handicapped accessible East Wing Glenview
Senior Center features:
• A convenient drive-up entrance
• A spacious craft room
• A card room
• Classrooms
• Meeting spaces and cozy areas for socializing,
recreation programs, classes, services, refreshments
and planned activities. For classes and events open to
the public, see page 34.
Note: The East Wing will be closed on December 24, 25, 31 and
January 1.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE EAST WING
GLENVIEW SENIOR CENTER
• Counseling and Community Consultant: Every Thursday,
9 am-12 pm, by appointment. Also at Village Hall, Monday-
Friday, 847-904-4366. Anyone retirement age or older is invited to join the East Wing
Glenview Senior Center and enjoy its wide variety of programs
for members. Residents of the Glenview Park District pay an
annual membership fee, covering May through April, which
entitles them to participate in all senior recreation programs.
(Resident fee: $35, Nonresident fee: $40) Membership is not
required to take advantage of such services as counseling, com-
munity liaison, AARP/Mature Driving (Smart Driving), Rules of
the Road, blood pressure testing, East Wing Speaker Series.
• SHIP Volunteer: (Senior Health Insurance Program):
A SHIP volunteer is available to help you file your Medicare
and related health insurance claims. To make an appoint-
ment, call North Shore Senior Center, 847-784-6040. Programs and Activities: A newsletter of East Wing programs
and events is published and mailed to members six times a
year, and a bi-monthly calendar of activities is included in the
newsletter. A weekly email newsletter is also sent to members.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
• Blood Pressure Testing: East Wing – Every Thursday,
11-11:55 am (drop-in); NorthShore University
HealthSystem – Each third Wednesday, 9-11 am
drop in cholesterol, glucose, AIC testing.

SENIOR DISCOUNT ON CLASSES
All seniors ages 65 yrs. and older who reside in the Glenview
Park District are entitled to a 20% discount on the fee of most
park district recreation classes. This discount does not apply
to programs or fees at the East Wing, Tennis Club, Ice Center,
Golf Clubs, pools and other select programs. Please request
this discount at the time of registration.
